The United States’ nuclear policy is as confusing and contradictory as that of its enemies Iran and North Korea. The USA’s double standard regarding nuclear weaponry allows Washington to get the best of both worlds: allowing the USA and its allies to gain military hegemony through nuclear armament while preventing its enemies from producing Weapons of Mass Destruction. On the one hand, the United States has branded nations pursuing nuclear armament historically, including Iraq, Iran, North Korea, and Syria, as enemies under the Axis of Evil.
