Making Dua in Ramadan

And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me – indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided. (2:186)

Our Holy Prophet swm used to make duas starting by praising and glorifying Allah swt. He swm taught us to humble ourselves completely before our Creator with intense sincerity and also to be firm in whatever we ask. All the more important Duas become in last 10 nights of Ramadhan.

Every year in Ramadhan Laylatul Qadar descends upon us. It is the greatest night for any muslim. Allah swt says,

We revealed it (the Qur’an) on the Night of Power
Would that you knew what the Night of Power is like.
Better is the Night of Power than a thousand months.
On that night the angels and Spirit descend by their Lord’s permission, with all His decrees.
That night is peace, till the break of dawn. (97 Holy Quran)

In this significant night alone worshipping Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) is more than the worship of one thousand months. Whosoever missed the virtues of this night will be very unlucky but will not be deprived from the blessing of this Night. This Night of Power falls in the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan. Most scholars are agreed and say to seek it in odd nights of Ramadan such as 21, 23, 25, 27 and 29.

We are recommended to seek this night through ibadah, worship, istighfar and rememberance of Allah swt, who created us and sent for us His Messenger swm with the Holy Quran, the un-created word of Allah swt, for all mankind. Alhamdulillah.

Allah swt says in the Holy Quran:

And with the truth We have sent the Qur’an down, and with the truth it has descended. And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a bringer of good tidings and a warner.

And [it is] a Qur’an which We have separated [by intervals] that you might recite it to the people over a prolonged period. And We have sent it down progressively.

Say, “Believe in it or do not believe. Indeed, those who were given knowledge before it – when it is recited to them, they fall upon their faces in prostration,

And they say, “Exalted is our Lord! Indeed, the promise of our Lord has been fulfilled.”

And they fall upon their faces weeping, and the Qur’an increases them in humble submission. (surah Isra 105 – 109)

Dua for Laylatul Qadr:

(Allahuma inaka afuwan karimun tohibol afuwa fafoanni yaghafooro yaghafooor)

“He who spends the Night of Power in worship, with a pure motive of faith and devotion, will have all his past sins forgiven”
