Muslim ummah has fallen into a shocking state. Its not because of any invasion or any illegal occupation by an outside force rather it is because the muslim army is killing its own citizens, the muslim ummah, openly on the streets and unbelievably and tragically inside masjids. Victims of the crackdown in Cairo are none other than those very people who are asking for the restoration of freedom, justice and democracy which are their rights in a democratic state. In the past muslim political organizations especially Muslim Brotherhood were severely criticised for being un-democratic and here we have a situation where merciless punishment awaits Brotherhood members for wanting democracy. What kind of injustice is this?
Whether democracy is right or wrong is no longer debatable because the real issue is proven to be the struggle for state power between the Brotherhood and the army. Egyptian, Algerian, Syrian, Tunisian, Bahraini and Yemeni armed forces have brutally clarified their position to the world and the Muslim ummah in particular that “No organization can be allowed to hold power unless they subordinate their Islamic ambitions to the army”. This is against muslim honor and in an extended form a grave violation of Islamic aqidah. We will reserve the discussion on Aqida for another occassion.
Few Arab capitals officially positioned themselves in support of the crackdown and the killings. They might have forgotten in their impatience about a Book called the Holy Quran where Allah Swt has forbidden killing, “…take not life, which Allah hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law (i.e. state penal code): thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom” 6:151. Two Arab rulers were the first to congratulate the anti-democracy coup leaders for their “brave” acts. Not a single Arab ruler is likely to shed a single tear for the death any Muslim wanting to live under the justice of Islam. For these monarchs Islam is a threat to their way of life and they will see to it that the ummah of Nabi swm bleeds as they are bleeding now in Cairo in order to preserve their tyranical hold.
The clergy, has finally disclosed his true face to the ummah. They are a bunch of “experts” in hair-cutting analysis of the most insignificant topic concerning the ummah. They busy themselves fighting for the rules of miswak (toothbrush) and the permissible length of men’s trousers which to them seems more important than standing up to defend innocent peoples’ lives being bloodied in Cairo, Dimashq, Baghdad, Tunis, San’a and in the Sub-Con. May God reward the “scholars” with what they deserve.
Consider the situation on the ground. If we ask for democracy we will be killed, if we ask for communism we will be beheaded, if we ask for Islam we will be vaporized. Muslim ummah therefore has only one of two options to choose from, either we shut up or we get shot.
By God, these tyrant rulers’ and these cowards’ faces are not the faces of the Ummah of Nabi swm. The face of the Ummah is the face Bilal al-Habshi, Sumayya, Ammar, Yasser, Musab, Hamzah, Hussein ibn Ali, may Allah swt be pleased with all of them. Nabi (swm)’s grandson Hussein (ra) had said, “Dishonor is not an option for us..” in the battle of Karbala. Ammar’s honorable mother Sumayya (raa) was the first shaheed of the ummah after she gave a befitting reply to the legendary leader of disbelievers Abu Jahil, she spat on his face while he was torturing her. Under the weight of heavy rocks lying over burning desert-sand Billal (ra) gave the war cry of Badr and the signal of victory of truth over evil, Ahadun! Ahadun! These were the faces of the Deen and of the Ummah of Nabi Karim Muhammad (swm).
What we are shown in news channels are the faces of greedy, corrupt and blood thirsty hypocrites. What does it matter what name they keep or what clothes they wear or the titles they self-confer upon themselves. They are only custodians of their bloody thrones. They have an army of palace scholars to celebrate the praises of their rulers 24×7 and they will not hesitate to award the honor of kafir, murtad, bidah, deviated and what not on whoever asks for the rulers’ accountability. A serious violation of Tawheed which we will leave for another discussion.
Dear Readers, you might be asking why so much anger, why so much hatred? The answer is in Islamic faith, Islamic belief, Imaan and the very Aqidah (creed) of Islam. The Prophet (swm) told us about belief and disbelief in the hadith “None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.” [Bukhari & Muslim]. Love for the Ummah is the sign of “true belief”. In another hadith, “The Muslim Ummah is like one body. If the eye is in pain then the whole body is in pain and if the head is in pain then the whole body is in pain”. If I fail to feel the pain of my brothers and sisters in Cairo then I must question my own faith. Am I a fake or a true believer?
I pray for the day when an “Imam” would rise to the occassion and call the muslims to come to him to receive the protection of God behind his shield.
